SBI PO 2025 Exam Pattern

The SBI PO 2025 selection process is structured into three phases: Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam, and Interview & Group Exercise. Each phase is designed to assess different skills essential for the Probationary Officer role in the banking sector.

Phase 1: Preliminary Examination

The Prelims Exam is an objective-type online test comprising 100 marks and is conducted over a duration of 1 hour. It consists of three sections—English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. The English Language section includes 30 questions for 30 marks, with a time limit of 20 minutes. The Quantitative Aptitude section has 35 questions for 35 marks, and the Reasoning Ability section also includes 35 questions for 35 marks—each section allotted 20 minutes. The total duration of the prelims exam is 60 minutes, and there is a penalty of 1/4 mark for every wrong answer. Candidates must score well overall, as there is no sectional cutoff.

Phase 2: Mains Examination + Descriptive Test

Candidates who clear the Prelims are eligible to appear for the Mains Exam, which includes both objective and descriptive papers. The Mains test evaluates candidates on subjects like Data Analysis & Interpretation, General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, and English Language. The descriptive test typically consists of letter and essay writing.

Phase 3: Group Exercise & Interview

Shortlisted candidates from the Mains Exam move on to the final stage: Group Exercises and Personal Interview. This round assesses the candidates’ communication skills, team coordination, leadership ability, and overall suitability for the officer role. The final selection is based on cumulative performance in the Mains and the Interview phase.
